Interplanetary Shock (or CME Arrival)
Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Location: Earth
Event Time: 2023-09-24T19:52Z ( DSCOVR: PLASMAG )
All Detecting Spacecrafts:
DSCOVR: PLASMAG
ACE: SWEPAM
ACE: MAG
Activity ID: 2023-09-24T19:52:00-IPS-001 (version 2)
Quality of ICME Signature: 2 (clear signatures)
Note: Characterized by a sharp amplification of magnetic field components, with B_total rapidly rising from 7 nT to 17 nT and later increases to 33 nT. Increases in solar wind speed from ~300 km/s at 19:52Z to ~500 km/s at 20:00Z. Subsequent significant increases in density up to 60 particles/cc and temperature are also observed. A more prominent flux rope is observed near 2023-09-25T06:00Z with less variability in magnetic field components. Likely associated with the arrivals of CME: 2023-09-22T02:24Z and/or CME: 2023-09-22T07:36Z.
